Every Saturday, we are going to be putting out a devotional that you can do with your kids, either for Sunday School tomorrow, or whenever you need a clever distraction in their day! Our story today begins with this video about the Sermon on the Mount:
Would you like to hear some of the words that Jesus said in His sermon on the mountain? Let’s read from Matthew 5:
When He saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain,
and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him.
Then He began to teach them, saying: “The poor in spirit are blessed,
for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.
Those who mourn are blessed,
for they will be comforted.
The gentle are blessed,
for they will inherit the earth.
Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness are blessed,
for they will be filled.
The merciful are blessed,
for they will be shown mercy.
The pure in heart are blessed,
for they will see God.
The peacemakers are blessed,
for they will be called sons of God.
Let’s do some singing! Check out this song about the kindness of God
Here are some questions that you and your parents can work through together:
What does it mean to be kind?
How has God been kind to us today?
What are some ways we can be kind today?
And now it’s time for our LEGO Kids Kindness Challenge! We have a special surprise for you kids! Jesus taught us by word and by action to be kind to everyone. We know that is hard to do which is why we needed Jesus to show us! We want to encourage you to also be seeking to be kind to others. So we are doing a Lego Kindness Challenge! Have your parents print off this image, or go to this link to a printable document. Every time you are kind to someone, fill in one of these blocks on this Lego man and then send us a picture of your man after he is all colored in! We will in turn, send you a special surprise in the mail! Doesn’t that sound like fun? Ask your parents to help you print this off by going to this link.
