Children’s Resource Packs

During these uncertain times, children’s ministries have ceased, except in the home. The leadership of First Baptist Church wanted to assist families with some resources to the children within our church normally impacted through Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Camp. While we unfortunately cannot make these resources available to everyone, we want to let you know what we sent out to our families in case you would also like to obtain these things for your own families.

Kids Devotional – Joshua

God’s Word is full of amazing accounts of how God worked and blessed different people who are just normal people just like you and me. This is a story about Joshua, but it’s also a story about God Himself! Watch this video and we will read the account directly from God’s Word, then we’ll watch a video just for kids about it to help you understand!

This is a super fun song, Veggie Tales style! Let’s sing it together!

Would you like to learn a Bible verse today? This one is from the book of Joshua, just like our story!

Kids Devotional – Prayer!

We are going to talk about prayer today!!! Have you ever prayed to God?  What exactly IS prayer anyway? Let’s watch this video and learn about what prayer is!

So basically – prayer is talking to God! But why would we want to do that? What’s the point of prayer? Here’s another video to answer that question!!

When I was younger, I thought that I had to pray a specific way, and I was often worried about doing it the wrong way. How are we supposed to pray?

Sometimes your teachers will ask you to close your eyes and fold your hands. Do you know why they do that? It’s so your hands don’t get busy doing other things and its so your eyes aren’t looking at other things. When you pray, you want to really focus on what you say to God, and you can’t do that if you are thinking about other things. Just like when you talk to your friends, they want your full attention when you talk to them. Isn’t it awesome that GOD wants your full attention to? It’s because HE loves you so much! He created you just the way you are and He loves to hear from you. Why don’t we pray right now??

Now let’s sing a song about prayer!

Kids Devotional – Fear

Last week, we talked about the armor of God and how God has given us ways to be protected. This week, we’re going to look at FEAR! Because even though God has given us truth, righteousness, the gospel, salvation, the Holy Spirit, God’s Word, and faith, sometimes the biggest thing that holds us back is FEAR!

Can you think of some things that YOU are afraid of?

We’re going to watch this video and learn about three men that chose to not be afraid, when they could have been afraid of all sorts of things!

If you were Shadrach, Meshach or Abednego, what would you have been afraid of?

What people thought of you when you didn’t bow? What the king could do to you? The fiery furnace? Those could be really scary things!

I’m sure that Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were probably scared in the beginning too. But they knew that they didn’t have to let fear win. Because God is bigger than anything we are ever afraid of and we can trust Him and His power! If you have a hard time with being afraid, I encourage you to learn this Bible verse to remind you of how big and how powerful God is and that He is able to protect you!

When I am afraid,
I will put my trust in You.
In God, whose word I praise,
In God I have put my trust;
I shall not be afraid.

Psalm 56:3-4

Let’s learn this new song together!

Kids Devotional – The Armor of God

I am so excited about today’s lesson. It’s a fun one! We’re going to learn about the armor of God! It’s not a REAL armor but God’s Word uses it to help us understand how we are supposed to prepare and be aware that we are in a battle to do what God wants us to do instead of doing what the enemy of God wants us to do. Let’s watch this video to learn more:

Let’s read from God’s Word where He tells us about the armor of God. See if YOU can hear the different parts of the armor!!

Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil. For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. In every situation take the shield of faith, and with it you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word.

Ephesians 6:10-18

Now I have some questions for you to think about!

Why would anyone wear armor? What would it be for?

It’s for protection!!

Why do we need protection?

Because of sin, sin that we do and the sin of others against us. It’s hard to focus on God and how He wants us to live our lives.

Do we need to put real armor on our bodies?

No, the armor of God is just a visual reminder for us to regularly make the decision to “put on” following God, serving Him, focusing on His truth and telling others why they can trust Him too. By doing those things, we stand firm against sin and God’s enemies, and God protects us.

Let’s sing a fun song! So stand up and while you listen to this song, let’s point out the different areas that will be protected – for example when it talks about the helmet, let’s touch our heads!

Here’s a fun coloring page to help you remember all about the Armor of God!
